Kick Off to the New Year!

2013 is here and we started it off with a bang!  We found a great temporary meeting location for our January meeting, since the old location is being sold.  And despite the pouring rain, we had a great turn out and lots of beautiful stitching to admire!

Of course with a new year brings a new board for the guild and I think we can already tell there are some great things on the agenda.

We have several workshops coming up this year.  We're having Sherri Jones of Patrick's Woods back to teach her Garden Variety Long Pocket.  I've seen several members working on their pre-stitching and wow!  This class is coming up in February.

Next we have Paulette Stewart of Plum Street Samplers coming to teach a one-day workshop.  We've commissioned her to design a sampler for us with an accompanying small to be finished in class.  We loved the piece she created for the Shepherd's Bush retreat (photo below), and know she'll do something amazing for us!  Our piece will be a surprise!  The workshop will be on May 4th and registration will be until the end of February.  I can't wait!!!

And finally, we are working on scheduling Catherine Theron to return for two days of workshops in the fall.  Keep checking back for more info on those workshops.

And now, on to the show!

Robert brought in two finishes, the first of which was his Advent piece, which he stitched completely from December 1 to December 24.  It's La-D-Da's Glory Sampler.

Robert also brought in his finished Shakespeare's Peddler piece called Father Sail Home.

Marie brought in her framed I Sigh Not For Beauty in her own conversion to Belle Soies.

Cindy brought in her finished Maria's Dechado by Samplers Remembered.  Isn't this gorgeous?

Sue finished this little piece on a road trip.  It's A Simple Wish by Blackbird Designs.  I love the little eyelets.

Jean missed out on coming home with this ornament in last year's ornament exchange, so she had to stitch it for herself.  Such a perfect touch with the plaid bow.

Lynn brought in her finished Melissa Shirley Nativity.  Look how cute this is!  This finished up super cute.

Michelle brought in two pieces.  This one was a birthday gift stitched by Lori and framed.  This is Hinges of Friendship by Needlework Press.  The other piece Michelle brought in is a gift for a friend, so we'll post it after the gift is received.

Our program for the January meeting was our MAGIC Reveal.  Those members that participated in the MAGIC program got these beautiful little bags that Marie made - complete with a pack of needles!

So many members finished several things on their MAGIC (My Annual Good Intentions Contract) lists.  Here are a few...

Lynn's framed Holly Hill Sampler.

Jean's Sweet Retreat (adorable!!)

Jean also finished her needlebook and four ornaments.

Sue finished her beautiful Blackbird Designs Christmas Garden.

Debbie finished a bunch of things!  Here's her Cecilia by Lisa Powell.

And her JBW Chanticleer

Marie finished several of the little Blackbird Designs stockings and this super cute Christmas piece.

At the February meeting we'll finish up with seeing more MAGIC finishes and also begin our year-long SAL of the Tudor Rose Sampler by Darlene O'Steen.  Until then, keep your needles busy!
