A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

Again, I would like to say where does the time go, but I think we are all in that boat.

On December 2nd, members of TRSG ended the year with fun and frivolity during our Annual Christmas Party and Ornament Exchange.  As you can see below, we had a bountiful feast and scrumptious desserts.
We socialized aplenty!

We also had a little bit of business to attend to:

First, we extended wishes of thanks and gratitude to our outgoing President, Michelle L.  She was quite delighted by our gift of thanks.  I mean who, as a member of a sampler guild, would not want a Betty Ring book on samplers.

Michelle, you really have been a wonderful leader for TRSG and we appreciate everything you have done for the past two years.

Being a member of the leadership in any guild or group takes dedication and hard work as well as time away from stitching, family or other endeavors, so please take a moment to say thank you to those in the TRSG  leadership as well as to leaders in other guilds or groups of which you are a member.

Thank you to all of those who have been part of the TRSG Board of Directors and those who are coming in as new board members.  We look forward to great things in the new year.

Additionally, throughout the year, you have seen photographs of finished projects by the members of TRSG.  Throughout the year, a member of TRSG (thank you Mendie C.) keeps a list of the stitcher's name and how many projects they stitch throughout the year.  At the end of the year, TRSG holds a drawing for TRSG membership dues for the coming year.  The winner drawn for 2015 TRSG membership dues was our Treasurer, Judy M.  Congratulations Judy!

The last bit of business discussed was in connection with our upcoming workshop with Ellen Chester of With My Needle.  Ellen will be joining us the weekend of April 18-19, 2015, to conduct classes on her new teaching piece, Kindred Spirits, and Long May She Wave.  Please note that in order to sign up for this workshop, you have to be a member of TRSG.  Additionally, our deadline to sign up is approaching fast, so if you are interested in signing up, please contact TRSG at the e-mail link above before January 15, 2015.

After business was concluded, we got down to the serious side of our meeting - the ornament reveal and exchange.  Rather than a Chinese gift exchange, one of our members has shared with us a holiday exchange based on a deck of cards.  For a large group, it is a great way to conduct an exchange and you never know who is going to get what until its all done.
As with all parties time passes quickly, so this month unfortunately, I can only share with you the name of our ornament stitcher, but not the pattern and designer.  I apologize in advance if I do not have the correct name with the correct ornament - it was a whirlwind photo session.

All in all, we had 24 members who brought ornaments to exchange.  Aren't they just beautiful all nestled together.  I wish they all could have gone on my tree, but I shall cherish the one I did take home.  It was a very lovely evening and a very good year for TRSG.
Here's to plenty of stitching in 2015.

The arts, quite simply, nourish the soul. They sustain, comfort, inspire. There is nothing like that exquisite moment when you first discover the beauty of connecting with others in celebration of larger ideals and shared wisdom.
